Picture of the month February 2010
|
Picture taken at Kampenhout on January 30, 2010. |
The winter season 2009-2010 had the first two months
25 days with the occurrence of (wet) snow(grains) at Kampenhout (check the
weather-blog). January
scored with 17 days remarkable high. This amount is more or less equal with
the data available at Ukkel (December 2009 had 7 days, January 2010 had 14 days)
with the mean for both months being 5 days. January 2010 had at Ukkel a mean
temperature of 0,1°C, making it the coldest month since the New Millennium.
Says it something about (a stop of) the global warming? Of course not,
global warming has to be viewed at a large time scale of at least 30 years
and also on a global scale and sadly this trend is still that the Earth is
getting warmer. A rather cold winter (small time scale) in Belgium (regional
scale) doesn't say a thing about this worrying warming up. A first logical
step is to reduce the CO2 level, so more energy from natural sources like
from the sun or wind would be a good start.
Some important data of snowfall in January 2010 at Kampenhout were: 3, 9, 13, 30. Picture shows a classic view on the double row of Platans in the "Wilderse Dreef". |
