| 1 | Just after midnight more lightning and passage of a weak thunderstorm via the east. During the day starting sunny, soon invading Ci, Cs, Ac & As with slight rain around 1315. Afterwards breaking clouds with few Cu remaining. After 1700 building TCu & Cb cloudiness in NW. One slight rain shower passed around 1830. Around sunset for more than an hour some fantastic intra cloud lightning in N. This animation shows a supercell which spawned a weak tornado near Duffel, and this animation shows another supercell with lots of lightning. Full pictorial report to be found here. Top Tmax: Kleine Brogel 21,3°C, Zaventem had 20,6°C. Today in afternoon and evening multiple severe thunderstorm activity over West & Oost-Vlaanderen, Antwerp, Brabant & Hainaut. Some of them were splitting supercells with at Tubize & Petit-Roeulx-lez-Braine (Braine-le-Compte) touch down of an F1 tornado with severe damage on some farmhouses, and this was presumable also the case at Koningshooikt (Duffel) with some damaging effects on greenhouses. On several locations hailstones between 1-3 cm were observed, this was the case near Bruges, Kortrijk, Merksem, Herentals and Haasrode. Also some weaker thunderstorm were noted over provinces of Limbourg and Luxembourg. |

Afterwards some breaks, but soon invading Cs, As, Ac. Showery rain between 2015-2130 giving 5 mm, afterwards clearing skies. Top Tmax: Chièvres 19,7°C, Zaventem had 18,6°C. Today, in afternoon, weak thunderstorm activity over provinces of Brabant & Antwerp. In the evening also weak to moderate activity over provinces of West & Oost-Vlaanderen & weak activity over provinces of Hainaut, Brabant & Luxembourg. The thunderstorm along the coast, between 2020-2050, gave some severe gusts: at Koksijde airfield 57KT and at Ostend airport 51KT. Formation of a weak tornado and/or waterspout can not be excluded. |
