History: owned by its chairman S. Braem and president J.P. Sette, Air Mercury International (AMI Cargo) was formed on November 27 1990 to provide world-wide cargo charters but specializing in East Africa, Middle East and Far East routes. The sole aircraft, an ex BIAC B707, was ferried to Ostend on February 12 1991. The first revenue flight took off from Hannover to Johannesburg via Athens on February 20. Due to financial troubles they ceased operations in January 1992. The airframe remained stored for six months at Ostend and Manston untill sold to Omega Air. It was cancelled from the Belgian register on July 8 1992 being the last B707 on the Belgian register. |
