27/06/1976 Location: Brussels Air Museum Photo: collection Skystef Description: this frame was the first 'Otter' used by the Belgian-Netherlands Antarctic Expedition. It was registered on November 5 1959 and from the late sixties onwards it was to be replaced by a second 'Otter' OO-HAD. However this airframe crashed on February 9 1970 and ultimate it was decided to rebuild the first airframe with some parts of the crashbird. But soon the expeditions to the South Pole ceased altogeter and on March 3 1972 it was cancelled from the register, migrating a bit later to the Air Museum in Brussels where it still residents. |
