 Britten - Norman Islander BN.2A-21 (468)

Description: this Islander was delivered to the Belgian Army as "B02 / OT-ALB" on May 25 1976, here seen such in its camouflage outfit with tiny "Force Terrestre / Landmacht" titles below the cheatline (see also upper left inset).

Description: in September 1991 it was modified for polution control, here seen such with a 'Side Looking Airborne Radar' on its belly and also carrying tiny titles below the tail (see upper left inset). It was withdrawn from use by the military on March 31 2005 being stored at Brasschaat airfield and was reserved for the Management Unit of the North Sea Mathematical Models.

Description: on June 21 2005 it was ferried to its birthplace Bembridge Airport (U.K.) for demilitarisation, repairs and inspection. On February 27 2006 the aircraft was transferred to the Belgian Science Policy Office (BELSPO) getting its appropriate civil registration and  a few months later, namely on June 1, it arrived such at its home base Antwerp airport. A day later this picture was taken wearing its full color scheme with titles indicating for what it is used for (see also upper left inset) but without tail logo which was later adopted.
