04/05/2007 Location: ANR/EBAW Photo: collection Skystef Description: this second hand Piper was on September 5 2000 registered to Ben-Air Flight Academy (BAFA), a flight school established on May 19 1980 as Ben-Air changing to its current name on October 5 1999 and based at Antwerp airport. The airframe itself arrived a month earlier on August 16 2000 as "D-EFMG" of the previous German user and made its first test flight on November 14 of the same year. On July 11 2001 it was registered to Ben-Air Flight Academy (BAFA) and Sabena Flight Academy, both based Antwerp airport. On February 27 2007 BAFA became the sole registered owner, here seen at it home base in their blue livery with "BAFA" tail titles and on its nose small "Ben Air Flight Academy titles" (see also upper left inset). On June 28 2007 it was withdrawn from use and on June 23 2009 donated as instructional airframe to the Stedelijk Lyceum Paardenmarkt near Antwerp airport (replacing OO-ATP) where it still residents. On July 9 2010 it was cancelled from the register. |
