Convair CV-440-12 Metropolitan (368)

Description: the eighth Convair 440 Sabena arrived at Brussels on October 21 1956 and carried only one color scheme during its life with the Belgian carrier.

Description: ready for departure on another flight. In the back construction of a new maintenance builing for Sabena "Hangar 40" which could service three B707's at the same moment and it came into being on December 10 1964. The particular Convair was cancelled on April 23 1968 to "N73165" for Frontier Airlines and left the same day for the States.

Description: after a conversion to CV580 in 1968 and after several operators in the States, this frame came back to Brussels Airport being delivered on May 29 1988 and was only to be used as source parts for the operational fleet of CV580's of European Air Transport. Here depicted just after its arrival, with the American regi "N73165" already erased and carrying the basic markings of previous operator Metro Airlines (American Eagle).

Description: seen a year later with some usable parts taken off.

Description: seen another three years later on the other (northern) side of Brussels Airport, used by the fire service since 1991 and rubbed from more parts, it was completely broken up on December 15 1994.
