late 60's Location: -/EBGB Photo: collection Skystef Description: this vintage 1943 build Piper (ex USAAF) came in the Belgian register on October 10 1946 for a private user (R. Aveniere) basing it at Spa airfield. Later it went to another private user (E. Emants-Pool), same airfield. After been with another private owner (M. Schepens) basing it at Antwerp airport, it migrated on December 19 1947 to Section Sportive et de Tourisme Aérien (S.S.T.A.), based at Grimbergen airfield which was formed one year earlier on September 11. It became on April 17 1954 a non-profit association changing in 1985 its name to Sabena Aéro Club. Here it's seen alongside sistership "OO-SOC" in this late sixties shot at its home base Grimbergen airfield in the first (metal) livery without titles. |
