early 70's Location: -/EBGB Photo: collection Skystef Description: this vintage 1953 build Piper (ex USAAF and ex Belgian Air Force "OL-L38") came on January 22 1971 in the register for a private owner (G. Poot) basing it at Grimbergen airfield. A year later it went to the Didac Flying School, established on June 1 1971 and also based at Grimbergen airfield. On August 9 1973 it moved further on to the NATO Flying Club, same airfield. Here seen in a shot taken in the early seventies when either with Didac or NATO and wearing the camouflage outfit of the Belgian Army. After been in storage for a while it migrated on September 28 1978 to Vliegclub Hoevenen retaining the camouflage colors. After been in storage for a while at Hoevenen airfield whereby frame and wings were used to restore "OO-ALZ", the remains were sold to the States being cancelled from the register on December 2 1998. |
