Here it's seen such when it made a visit to Antwerp airport carrying a livery with tail titles (see also upper left inset). On May 9 1977, on approach to Ghent airfield, it suffered an engine failure due to fuel exhaustion after the pilot selected an empty fuel tank on which it made an emergency landing in a ring canal. The aircraft sank after 10 minutes and luckely all three persons on board survived and climbed out. The airframe itself was damaged beyond repair while pulling out of the water and was officially cancelled from the register on December 12 1978. A report of this accident (in Dutch) can be found here. The wreckage was later bought by a private user (C. Hanquier) for spares at its property at Paal (Belgium), lasted noted on October 8 1986. |
