Picture of the month January 2011

Picture taken at Steenokkerzeel on December 19, 2010.

The winter season 2010-2011 started strong with in December too cold temperatures, a lot of snow and after 46 years even a white Christmas. For a handful weather reports, check this link.  Brussels Airport had to cope all these snowy days with cleaning of runways, taxiways and aprons, but with their brand new equipment this posed no real problem. On the other hand at some of our major surrounding airports, like London Heathrow, severe problems arose leading to temporary closure. On December 18 2010, no less than 22 flights (see list) were diverted from this English airport and the next day some uncommon tails could be spotted at Brussels Airport: In this teleshot of the north side of Concourse B starting from the front: Asiana B777-200, Korean Air B747-400 (pax), Arik Air A340-500, British Airways B777-200, Aer Lingus A320 (which was a common flight), Air China A330-200, Egyptair A330-200 (only blue top of tail is visible).

Since the year 2004 the special visitors of Brussels Airport are listed on this web via link.
