Due to sudden lowering of pressure, condensation of
invisible water vapor sometimes may take place above the wing of an
airplane. When the sun is in the right angle an irrisation effect (like
rainbow colors) may become visible as well and this is due to diffraction of
water droplets having all the same size. This
Boeing 747-400 freighter of Jade Cargo International (China) diverted from
Amsterdam due to fog and was a welcome special visitor for the spotters, but
from this point of view also an interesting object to catch under these
special circumstances. More pictures of aircraft inducing vortices & condensation via this link. |
