On November 19 2009, the Belgian Air Force held a
ceremony to introduce their new airliner for the transport of VIPs, military
staff and cargo. The Airbus A330-300 arrived already at Brussels on October
25 in basic colors but with large Belgian Air Force titles. After making a
couple of flights, it was between November 8-15 in a paint hall at Schiphol
for the finishing touch on the current striking livery. The airliner, owed
by ILFC but operated by HiFly of Portugal (and retaining registration
CS-TMT), is leased from a French broker Avico for 2000 flying hours each
year till the end of 2013. It will replace the two ageing Airbus A310s, of
which currently only one is serviceable till the end of 2010. For sure
in the begin, the A330 will be a prior item for the photographers at
Brussels Airport. As a pleasant side note: this bird used to fly for
Sabena. More pictures of foreign airlines & airliners at Brussels Airport of past five years via this link |
