Weather pictures & report of May 20 2006

Single and multi-cell thunderstorms on trough lines.

Synopsis: advection of unstable air from SW. Steering feature was a low of 988 hPa over south of U.K.. After the cold front two major trough lines developed, both passing between 1100-1400 over the center of Belgium. Upper winds at 900 hPa were around 50KT, and during the second through line this windspeed was also observed on the ground. The first trough line had some nice whale's mouth feature as well. All pics taken at Steenokkerzeel (5km southwest of Kampenhout) in local time (CET).
